UPDATE: the interruption of Donald Trump’s speech by the pastor / organizer was a politically motivated setup.
Please see The Gateway Pundit for complete details on this aspect of the story.
“It used to be that you couldn’t drink the water in Mexico and cars were made in Flint. Now, cars are made in Mexico, and you can’t drink the water in Flint,” Donald Trump today said at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Flint, MI. The Democrat-run city’s water is a sickening cocktail of lead, fecal coliform bacteria, and other toxins. General Motors once employed over 80,000 in Flint plants. Now, Ford Motor Company is producing 100% of its small cars in Mexico, contributing no tax – only higher unemployment, he said.
As he began to speak about NAFTA and the failures of Hillary Clinton, one of the organizers interrupted him and said it wasn’t to be a political speech. Trump said if elected, his administration would fix the damage caused and jobs would return to Flint. He thanked the organizer and left.
Perhaps the organizer was afraid of losing her non-profit status under the Johnson Amendment? Maybe, she is a Democrat herself, and Trump’s words hit a raw nerve? We’ll never know.
Flint’s current water crisis goes back to 2007 according to this CNN Timeline, but the city has had poor quality water for decades. The water quality issue is inherently political with officials at all levels of government and in both parties having some degree of culpability.
